Attractions

Display areas include waterfowl, birds of prey, forest birds, shore birds, tuatara, skinks and geckos. The current collection is the largest public collection of native birds in New Zealand.

Plantings throughout the park have been designed to provide a forest atmosphere.

Since 1971 over 1 million visitors have taken advantage of the Kiwi viewing guarantee. (We must be doing something right!) A not-for-profit organisation; every cent of your entry fee goes back into the running of the park and our "Breeding For Release" programs for Kiwi, Pateke (Brown Teal) Flightless Campbell Island Teal, Weka, Stephen's Island Tuatara, New Zealand Bush Falcons and Whio (Blue Duck). Come and share in our success.

A souvenir shop that specialises in all things related to Kiwi, native birds and reptiles has items for sale.
