Pa Harakeke
Nestled below the Pureora Mountain, beside the Kakaho Stream, next door to the Pureora Forest Park you will find Pa Harakeke or "Harakeke World".Pa Harakeke showcases harakeke, a valuable resource to Maori in pre-European times and now in demand as a natural fibre and for the medicinal properties in the gel.
Visitors can take the 45 minute Pa harakeke Tour which departs at 10.00am, 11.00am, 1pm and 2pm daily.
The Pureora Mountain Tour is a half day tour while the Pureora Forest Tour is a 3 hour tour.
The Carbon Offset Eco-Planting program takes about 30 minutes and involves selecting a native tree from the nursery and planting it in the traditional way. A photo is also taken whilst the tree is being planted and an ancient chant is recited by the guide. A Carbon Offset Certificate is issued with the GPS co-ordinates and photo of the tree planted.
A souvenir shop sells locally made crafts and visitors can also purchase a coffee from the coffee bar.
